Assignment 10: Mexico's Drug War

TITLE: CORRUPTION HURTING MEXICO'S FIGHT AGAINST CRIME, CALDERON SAYS

This article inspired me because it not only is talking about the drug war but shows the exact # of people that have been killed over the last 3 yrs. This article also says that they noticed that ever sense Felipe Calderon (the president) was elected they noticed that is when the killings had started. They are starting to get suspicion's that he is some how involved with all these killings that started in 2006 (the yr he was elected). It also has a map showing how many killings have happened in certain area's right now the place the most killings that have accured have been in Chihuahua and I literally mean it has been in Chihuahua. So these are the main things that cought my attention about this article.

Human trafficking

Similarities:
Both want to stop human trafficking.

Both have to do with the state of Texas.

Diffrences:
1ST article it talks about catching the guy, 2ND they caught the guy.

1ST passing a law to help stop this, 2ND sending guy to jail.

1ST People want to put an end to this, 2ND people have stopped the organization.

Assignment #8

Adolf Hitler started off by joining the Nazi party. The group started off smaall until they ran for govt. This was there first step into becoming a great power. When they had won the election thats when his power sarted to spread out. First he conviced them that every thing was the jews fault and they should eliminate them all. Thats when it started to change for the jews.

CH.6

• They were shot or if they were not seen they would be trampled on.


• He tripped and was trampled to death.


• He saw the son kill his own father for food and when he saw this he realized that he was ashamed of this and he promised himself that he would not do the same.

• Elie started to think that he should just leave his dad to die and just care about himself.


• They just did not like him and also to steal his ration.


• He thought he should do what the guy told him to take his ration and get double but he did not want to do this but he kept th inking of it in the secret place of his heart.

• They were going to save the Jews but the Germans wanted to kill them before they were set free.


• They did not want revenge they just let it be and went on with there lives.


• He saw himself as a dead body staring at him and the look in his eyes he will never forget.

Assignment #5 Timeline

Rise of the Nazi Party (1918-1933). During the fourteen years following the end of World War I, Nazi party's grew from a small political group to most powerful party in Germany.

Nazification (1933-1939). once Hitler became the chancellor they started to change everything from political to economical change.

The Ghettos (1939-1941). Jews where placed in the ghetto's of there own cities as the first step of change.

The Camps (1941-1942). Concentration camps was the way to kill the jews in private or to keep it secret.

Rescue and Liberation (1944-1945). Some survived through the heroics of neighbors; others were liberated by the Allies.

Aftermath (1945-2000). After the war, Nazi perpetrators faced punishment for their war crimes and survivors began rebuilding their lives.

Assignment #4 chapter2-3 questions

1. They where facing death and they did not realize it. By this time they were already at a place that was called Kaschau in a little frontier called Czechoslavack.
2. The thing that was for shadowed was the people being burned in the flames.
3. The people would gag her and tie her up they would also beat her on the head practically killing her.
4. It finally stopped at a place called Auschwitz.

Chapter 3

1. He lied so that he could end up being with his father
2. The first sight was when he saw all the babys being burned in that pit.
3. That this sight was horrible enough to take someone's hope of living away.
4. He changed by losing all of his hope his faith in god basically he lost everything he believed in.
5. He thinks that Auschwitz will be a much better then Birkenau because the Barracks where made of bricks not wood so it looked nicer.
6. They would shower them with gasoline and hot water to get rid of there disea on there skin.
7. They were called by number that was tatooed ont there arms. His number was A-7713
8. He was much to humain to be in charge of them.
9. It was simply a piece of bread.
10. He was told to make a grave for his father and his father was killed.

Assignment #4

1. He is a old man that is well known and well respected in his village or town of sighet.
2. he said that something inside of him was making him cry and he did not know what it was.
3. he started going around telling people about the germans how they had attacked and killed a lot of jews in a city he had visited.
4. they thought he was just looking for a little attention and he came up with this lie to get.
5. 1 jews were prohibitid from leaving their residence for three days under penalty of death.2 jews were not aloud to have any gold, jewelry or anything of value.3 every jew had to wearhe yellow star.4 no right to go to restraunts and anywhere intertaining.5 no one can be on the streets till after 6 o'clock.
6. It is a neighborhood with only a class of people.
7. They didn't really want to believe that they were losing there freedom.
8. He felt as if it was starting to feel like the first days of hell.

assignment #3 cattle car complex

This story tells what happened to a Holocaust survivor that had a something unexpected to him happened. One night he was going down an Elevator and it had gotten jammed. He started to remember old memories about being put in a train with lots of other of people that where Jews like him.he started to feel suffocated and scarred. Then the guard who was Irish tried to help him but he thought he was a Nazi and did not want his help. So then a Russian came to help out and found out he was having bad memories. When a repair man came he fixed the elevator and they waited for the man. Then they found out he was OK.

I think he wrote this to show how bad the holocaust was. H e was baasically saying that if you were a survivor this is a scar that you cant hide. It is something you can't forget. So that is why he starts to remember what had happened or how the scar was formed.

Assignment #1 2nd 9 weeks

The holacaust was a World War 2 it was led by a mad man called Hitler. He had a mentality that everybody should be German so he started killing anybody who was not a German starting with Jews.

To tell you the truth Mr. Montez I think that it was really fun to make and work on the . Honestly I think the only thing I would change is that instead of you giving the assignments in a blog give them on a piece of paper and we can do it on are own time. Other then that everything has been fun.

Hello Mr. Montez today I will tell you about the blog 300ernestosernwolves. I honestly think his blog is to dull the only happiness I see in his blog is the words. That is the only problem I think there is on his blog but his writing and the way that he describes things is very well. He really describes things the knows what he is doing. Well other then the color thing his blog is a really good one.


P.S. 300 I think you should watch the movie more before you name your blog after it.

The character that Ihave chosen is Lakshmi and this poem reminds me of when she is starting to forget things and is getting knew memory's.

Assignment #7

These pictures are really disturbing and make me feel bad for the people that are traped there. It honestly reminded me of how some streets of Juarez look like. The picture that was most disturbing was the one where they show the drunken customer on the floor and the one where they show the girl with her customer. Those to really scared me for some reason I don't know why they just did. The one that I thought was messed up was the one where that lady pulls the girl by the hair in front of everyone. I just know realize that a brothel can and will be a scarie place to live in and disgusting.

Assigment #6

There have been many organizations that have been trying to stop child and women prostitution, but many are not funded by the government. The one Iwill tell you about is called ECPAT (End Child prostitution Child Pornography and Trafficking of Children for Sexual Purposes). They work in Yokohoma Japan they break down trafficking buisnesses and save the children who might be traped in these organizations. There real orginization actually started in switzerland. So far they have been doing a good job at taking down these buisnesses and saving the children from brothels. Right now they are still up and running and are saving kids from brothels.

Assignment #5

1. Lakshmi living in Nepal in the village
2. Family is going threw a hard time
3. Step dad finally does something good for the family and then ruins it
4. Father sells Lakshmi into a brothel
5. She meets a guy that she calls Uncle Husband
6. They travel across Nepal until they get to Happiness house (brothel)
7. She finds out she is not working to be a maid but to have SEX with men
8. She then is starved for not wanting to have sex
9. After about a week she is drugged and forced to have sex
10. She maid friends that helped her while she was in the brothel
11. slowly but Shirley her friends left the brothel first it was Pushpa, then Shahanna, and then Monica
12. When this was happening she met an American who would help her get out of the brothel
13. Days were passing buy and she got worried
14. Lakshmi escapes Happiness House

Assignment #3

In the book Sold there have been many conflicts stretching out through the book. Each one has a diffrent conflict. The ones that have mainly been coming out are man vs. man and man vs. himself.

When Lakshmi is in Happiness house (brothel) she finally finds out that they want her to start to have sex with guys. When she found this out she tried to leave but she was stopped by Mumtaz the owner of the brothel. When she told Mumtaz she would not have sex with men Mumtaz ended up beating her pg 105. She does this constantly intill Lakshmi agrees to have sex.To look this up read pages 109-112.

Later on in the book Lakshmi starts to critisize herself not only by appearence but by the way she has become. One good example would be on page 231. She says that she can hear a girl crying but it sounds like when cars are honking in the street. Then she say's what have I become.

assignment #2 Maybe pg. 27

This vignette is when Lakshmi (main character) and her mom are sitting down talking to each other about things that they want. They talk about many things that they would like to have in the future and what they would like to do. Even though they know it will never happen they still kept thinking.

At first she had just seen her mom looking for something in the oven. What she took out was some seeds she got them and put them to cook and they turned into popcorn. She gave it to Lakshmi and they both sat down. As Lakshmi ate her popcorn her mom was smoking a cigarette. Then they started to talk about things that they wanted for them selves. Lakshmi wanted a new dress also other things like sugar to make cakes and more seeds to plant things. Her mom was just talking about things she would like to do around the house. Once this talk was over Lakshmi Realizes that this can never be true.

So this Vignette is called maybe because there conversation is that maybe they can do this or that; when it is not true.

Asignment#1

Hi my name is miguelangel a 13 year old eighth grader. I go to School but before I went to school. I love to play football my favorite team is the Philidalphia Eagles I have played for city leages and also middle schools this year I am also playing; this is my 6th year playing football.I have advanced classes and I am a band member.

My mom and dad are called Marisa and Jesus they are very loving to me and each other and they are very protective. I have an older Brother his name is Ruben he is 14 and is in high school at Socorro High he is a freshmen. My little brother is called Jesus he is 10 and a pain in my rear end. Even though he is annoying I still have to put up with him. My little sister is 8 her name is Elizebeth she ALWAYS lies about every thing even when she gets caught. I also have to be protecting her from my brothers who are always treating her like crap.

Well this is all about me and my family that I love even thow they jump on my nerves.
